The Role of Community Governance and Interaction Quality in Patient Organizations for Rare Chronic Diseases

Annika Schröder, Katharina Hölzle, Carsten Schultz

Abstract: An extensive body of literature indicates the growing influence of virtual communities not only on social interaction, spending free time, and working, but also on the interaction of companies with their customers to exchange information on products and to develop innovative ideas. This contribution reports on the results from a study pre-test aiming at understanding community governance and interaction quality in order to assess the community performance. Five virtual patient organizations for rare and chronic diseases have been the object of a multi-layer analysis.
